Miguel- Hi Miguel-, to generate a point cloud which can be transformed to 3D, the laser frequency needs get 50,000 - 100,000 / s. So the scanning process can be completed within shot time. Arrim ONE's laser is phrase-shift type, and is not able to do it.

Hello yang, I don't mean a "full scale point cloud" but so that it records only points you've "measured". This way you could do a very simple point cloud that you can use for 3D models.. Or you could do 3D drawings with lines and circles by measuring them.

akommireddi Yes you are able to save the image with all measurements. We plan to roll out SDK in the end of 2018.

yang the Bosch Laser GLM 50 C has a function to divide a length in equal lengths and shows it in the Display. Usually you measure the length of the room and divide it by the width of the Board. Then you see how much full Boards you get and the rest. This Rest shows you how you have to start. Because you want the First and the last Board to be equal sized.
For example your room ist 6,3 meters. Your Board is 192 mm
So 6300 mm divided by 192mm is 32,81
So you get 32 boards and 0,81 rest
0,81 x 192 = 155,5
That' s the last Board.
For equal size you take 155,5 + 192 = 347,5
347,5 : 2 = 173,7
That' s your first and last board equal sized

Luxoris Hi Luxoris, technically, this is an easy function. We have many backers also plan to use Arrim ONE for tiling and flooring.

One question: Is it universal that people want the first and last board equal sized? For software development, we want to know if we need add this as option.

yang if you make the first and the last board equal, you don't get in trouble if the room has a length which gets you a very small board at the end, like 5 or 10 milimeters. You need a gap between the wall and the board of at least 8 mm for the floor to get bigger and smaller by climate changes. A small board doesn't look good and is difficult to install. And you could also see by this function if the room is parallel or the last board is at a different widths

As an Architect, the perfect solution for me would be to be able to enter a space. collect all of my measurements of all types and be able to save them together as a separate file (lets call it "Kitchen.") Then, once back in my office I could go to my Kitchen file and have all of my measurements in front of me, as well as having a video/photos of the Kitchen space as well.
Using this same concept, to be able to walk around the perimeter of a building creating a file that has all of my measurements as well as a photo/video reference would be almost too perfect.
Finally, if I were to visit a site and shoot video by just standing in the middle of a space or walking around a building, could I them return to my office and by using the video collect my measurements then?
Please understand, I know very little about the product or what the software is capable of. I DO know what millions of Architects and drafts-people need every day and how this type of tool, if easy to use can be as important to the profession was as the introduction of CAD.
Again, please accept my apologies if I have overstepped my bounds.

cliftonra Thanks a lot for your suggestion! We are testing 3D photo function. I think this function will somehow fit the concept you mentioned before.

I am a semi retired architect. I agree with the assessment of functionality that you describe. Have you tried using ArrimOne on an iPad? I find it a lot easier to work with than the small iPhone 7 I have. I'm still trying to get the import photo so I can measure items from the photo "after the fact".

It'd be nice to have a continous line measurement that adds up the dimension. This way you could approximate piping, hose lines, ducting etc. lengths.

It would be really cool to have a mode to measure the normal distance between a plane (defined by 3 points) and one extra point.

@arv3 If the plane is horizontal, you could try the function <line> - <Horizontal / vertical measurement>.
Please check the instruction in link here: https://www.arrim.net/instruction-video. Then view the instruction of <Measure Line>, select your version iOS / Android, then scroll down to the last function instruction.
If the plane is tilted, currently Arrim One can't do such measurement.

I have a couple of requests.

Is it possible to put a switch in the software to always have the target on? The lazer is kinda weak for using outside in the sun light, so I resort to having to double tap the screen to get the target to come on every time I want to tag a point.

Is it possible to add a voice command to tag a point instead of having to touch the shutter circle on the screen? You could use a command such as "Tag". I'm older and I tend to shake. It would be significantly easier for me to not have to move a finger once I get set to tag a point.
