Stop camera shake and therefore be more accurate

Are an interior designer/kitchen designer. Got this cool device to ideally replace handheld laser measuring device when measuring up clients rooms / kitchens.
I am finding placing the laser dot to be 'hit and miss' and getting widely varying results compared to using old laser tool. Any suggestions or updates in software to minimise this shake to make more accurate or as you say 'professional measuring tool'.

Hi Simon,
May I ask the "hit and miss" happened because it's hard for your to ensure the laser dot pointing to the correct position you wish, or the phone & device would move when you hit the measure button?
Or the result varies when all your measurement/movement is correct? If so, what's the difference?
