This customization was ordered by a customer who owned a Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref. 5167A, wanted something different and special for his personal use. Their client decided to request the Artisans de Genève service to personalize his watch so that it would look like Lake Caumasee from the air. He wanted to experience what it would be like to fly over the lake in a hot air balloon. Lake Caumasee is a lake near Flims in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Artisans de Genève is an independent company specializing in the personalization of timepieces. They are not affiliated with Patek Philippe SA and are not authorized by Patek Philippe to interfere with its products for any reason.
For this "Caumasee" project, their client had a unique emotion deep within him, partly due to his imperfect memory of the changing colors as the light dimmed while flying over the lake. He spent a lot of time mixing and selecting the colors he had in mind; his choice was Royal Ebony, which combines rose gold tones with a delicate almond blue. A unique color palette that evokes the feeling of flying over Lake Cooma in autumn.
Therefore, Artisans de Genève had to redesign the Patek Philippe caliber 324 movement that powers the Aquanaut ref.1. 5167A’s skeletonization, anthracite coating, hammered base plate, and skeletonized oscillating weight. At the same time, the dial adopts a hollow and circular texture, and the outer edge with the minute track is coated with royal ebony color PVD.
For this particular project, Artisans de Genève employed countless craftsmen. Their mission is to express how clients feel when they feel a beam of light in their landscape. First, they hand-polished and circular-grained every component of the 324 movement to bring shine and shine to the movement.
